According to the Sun, Chelsea are now in pole position to sign Bayer Munich's Robert Lewandowski, as Real Madrid pull out of the race. As it stands, Robert Lewandowski himself eyes Bayern exit, despite 4 successful seasons at the German hegemon. And, as French media outlet L’Equipe stated last month, Bayern are ready to accept an offer for Robert Lewandowski, if any club is ready to pay €100million+. The Bundesliga heavyweights have numerous times expressed their determination to keep the 29-year-old striker at the club, however, L’Equipe were stating the transfer chances would rise if an appropriate bid arrived.
From Chelsea's side, the interest might be a result of multiple factors. As it is understood, the main reason which backs the Blues' possible enquiry is an ambiguous situation with Alvaro Morata at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniardfailed to provide a needed level of display in his first Premier League season and, more importantly, has been linked with a summer move away.
In this regard, Juventus emerged as the most likely destination for the Spanish striker. According to Goal, the fee for Alvaro Morata has been set between Chelsea & Juventus, however, the Old Lady have decided to wait a little with the official approach.
However, Juve's director Beppe Marotta is not too positive over the 25-year-old's Binconeri return: "Morata always expressed sincere appreciation for Juventus and the city of Turin", he said. "But it was a very expensive transfer, soit’s practically impossible to get him back."
Nevertheless, the Blues' interest in Rober Lewandowski implies that the board still consider a proper replacement for Morata. The 29-year-old has scored in 40 goals in 47 gamesin all competitions this season and finished as the 2017/18 Bundesliga top scorer for the third time in his career with 29 goals in 30 games in the tournament.
